Arvada, CO. - Many of the country’s top Midget drivers have entered the 5th Annual “Kornhusker Midget Klassic” and the Ron Hughes JR & SR Memorial Race sponsor by Jaguar Downhole Tools to battle for over $26,000.00 in prize money.

Eagle Raceway in Lincoln, NE will host the opening night of the series on Sunday evening July 27th, and the two races series will conclude at the Butler County Motorplex in Rising City, NE on Monday evening July 28th. The series is dedicated to the late Ron Hughes SR and Ronnie Hughes JR.

THE MODIFIED CHALLENGE

Fort Morgan, Colorado, July 19, 2008 – I-76 Speedway hosted the Modified Challenge race for the regular Modified class and the Sports-Mods. The race was down-sized from the previous years, but nonetheless, the Modifieds put on a magnificent show.

In the regular Modifieds, after Heat races were run, there were two Qualifying Main Events to position the cars for the Main Event. Ken Maloney of Keenesburg, was positioned on the pole with Jeremy Frenier of Fort Morgan on the outside, set for 35 laps, and running for $1,000 to win. Frenier moved out to immediately take the lead, but was hard-pressed to keep the lead with 21 other hungry drivers right on his tail, and the competition packed all around him. Frenier hung onto the lead for 22 laps before Joe Mullins of Boulder, got past him for a couple of laps.
